CPAP & BiPAP Questions, Clearly Answered
What is the difference between CPAP, APAP and BiPAP?
CPAP provides one prescribed pressure, APAP automatically adjusts within a prescribed range, and BiPAP or bilevel therapy uses separate inspiratory and expiratory pressures. The appropriate mode should follow your sleep-study results, prescription and clinician guidance.
How do I choose the right CPAP or BiPAP machine?
Start with the therapy mode and pressure requirements on your prescription, then compare comfort features such as humidification, heated tubing, data connectivity, travel size and noise level. White Aspects can help you compare compatible options before purchase.
Can I choose a mask with my CPAP or BiPAP purchase?
On eligible White Aspects machine bundles, the product page includes a Choose Your Mask tool. Select the mask model first, then select its available size before adding the machine to your cart.
How do I know which mask size I need?
Mask sizing is model-specific. Use the Size Guide shown inside the mask selector for the chosen mask. Where a manufacturer fitting template is required, follow that template rather than using one universal face measurement.
Do I need a sleep study or prescription before buying a machine?
Requirements depend on the device, your clinical situation and any insurer or local regulatory requirements. Therapy pressures should be based on an appropriate clinical assessment. If you already have a prescription or sleep-study report, our team can help you match it to suitable equipment.
What water should I use in a CPAP humidifier?
Follow the machine manufacturer's instructions. Distilled water is commonly recommended because it helps reduce mineral buildup in the humidifier chamber. Empty and air-dry the chamber regularly and do not add fragrances or oils unless the manufacturer specifically permits them.
How should I clean my CPAP mask, tubing and humidifier chamber?
Follow the manufacturer cleaning schedule. In general, use mild soap and warm water for washable parts, rinse thoroughly and allow them to air-dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Do not use ozone or unapproved cleaning chemicals on equipment unless the manufacturer explicitly allows them.
Can I travel with my CPAP machine?
Yes. Most CPAP devices can travel as medical equipment, but airline and battery rules vary. Keep the machine in your hand luggage, carry the prescription if useful, and check power and battery requirements before flying.
What if I still snore or have mask leaks while using CPAP?
Persistent snoring or leaking can be related to mask fit, mouth leak, sleeping position or therapy settings. Refit the mask first and check the seal. If symptoms continue, contact your clinician or therapy provider rather than changing prescribed pressure settings on your own.
What support does White Aspects provide after purchase?
We can help with product setup guidance, compatible masks and accessories, replacement supplies and general after-sales questions. Warranty coverage and included accessories vary by product, so check the specific product page or contact us before ordering if you need confirmation.
