New to prescribed CPAP therapy? This short guide covers getting comfortable with your equipment and knowing when to ask for help. Adjustment varies between people; there is no guaranteed timetable.
Start with your prescribed setup
Use the machine, mask and pressure settings recommended by your treating clinician. Read the instructions for your exact equipment. Our CPAP support hub helps you find model-specific guidance.
Getting comfortable with the mask
Try brief practice sessions while awake, seated and relaxed. Start by getting familiar with the mask, then practise with your prescribed setup running. Breathe normally and build confidence gradually. Awake practice does not replace using prescribed therapy during sleep.
If the mask makes you anxious
Tell your care provider what feels difficult: the fit, the airflow or having your face covered. They can review the mask and help you adjust to treatment. Do not change prescribed pressure yourself. Persistent anxiety, pain or difficulty tolerating therapy needs clinical advice.
Leaks and dryness
Check the mask fit and tubing connections according to their instructions. See our mask sizing and fitting guide. Ask your care provider about suitable humidification if dryness continues; compatibility and settings differ between machines.
Product support in the UAE
