Loud snoring, waking up tired, morning headaches or a partner who notices pauses in your breathing are common reasons people in the UAE are asked to check for sleep apnea. A home sleep test lets you record a night of breathing data in your own bed instead of spending a night in a hospital sleep lab. This guide explains how the service works at White Aspects, what the two test options record, what it costs and what happens after the report.

Who a home sleep test is for

Home sleep testing is designed for adults with a moderate to high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea and no other serious heart or lung condition. Your doctor may still prefer an in-lab polysomnography study if you have complex symptoms, suspected central sleep apnea or a condition that affects breathing during the day. If you are not sure, share your symptoms with your GP or a sleep clinician first. The result of any home test must be reviewed by a qualified clinician before treatment decisions are made.

The two options we offer

Option What it records Price per study
Belun Ring A wearable ring that records PPG-derived signals, oxygen saturation, pulse and movement overnight AED 500
MiniScreen A compact multi-channel kit that captures airflow, respiratory effort, oxygen saturation, pulse, snoring and body position, depending on the kit supplied AED 675

Both are service bookings rather than equipment purchases. The device is returned after the recording. The Belun Ring is the simpler option if you want minimal sensors on your body. The MiniScreen records more channels, which some clinicians prefer when they need airflow and effort data to grade the severity of apnea events.

How booking works

  1. Choose the Belun Ring or MiniScreen on its product page and select your requested test date at checkout.
  2. Our team contacts you to confirm the appointment and the equipment handover. We serve Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the wider UAE.
  3. Wear the device for one full night at home following the short instructions supplied with the kit.
  4. Return the kit. The recording is then prepared for clinical review.

Before the night of the test, avoid alcohol and daytime naps, keep your usual bedtime and remove nail polish from the finger that will carry a sensor, since polish can affect oxygen readings.

What the report tells you

A sleep report typically includes the apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), which is the number of breathing pauses or reductions per hour of sleep, oxygen desaturation data and, with the MiniScreen, snoring and position information. A qualified clinician interprets these numbers alongside your symptoms and medical history. Treatment decisions should never be based on an automatically generated result alone.

What happens next

If the clinician confirms sleep apnea, the usual next step is positive airway pressure therapy. Most people start with an auto-adjusting CPAP such as the ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet, while some need a bilevel device. Our CPAP buying guide and CPAP versus BiPAP comparison explain the differences. If your prescription specifies pressure settings, you can submit it securely and we will configure the device before delivery.

Insurance

Diagnostic sleep testing is listed as a covered service for obstructive sleep apnea in the published coverage policies of some UAE insurers, including Daman plans, when it is medically necessary and ordered by a physician. Cover for the therapy device itself varies by plan and often needs prior approval. Check your policy before booking and ask us for an itemised VAT invoice if you plan to claim.

Book or ask a question

Compare both options on the home sleep test page, or message us on WhatsApp if you are unsure which test your doctor is expecting. We also support customers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi with device setup after diagnosis.
